Joyce Morris

Mrs. Joyce Warrick Morris, 82, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Mrs. Morris is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lucy Morris Allen and Brooks Allen, of Rockingham; granddaughter Blair Allen Ivey and husband, David, of Fayetteville, and a grandson, Gregory Allen, Jr. of Raleigh. She is also survived by her sister Mrs. Lauranne (Tinka) Nuttall of Rockingham and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Morris was the widow of William Thomas Morris, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lucy Taylor Warrick and Julian Warrick; a sister, Mary Warrick Futterer; and a brother, Julian Warrick, Jr. Mrs. Morris was a 1944 graduate of Rockingham High School and a member of the first girl’s basketball team at Rockingham High School, a fact she was extremely proud of and enjoyed sharing her basketball stories. She was retired from Kay’s of Rockingham. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, September 18th at Crestview Baptist Church with the Rev. William Kearse and Rev. John Futterer officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
