Wilhelmina Layton Wescott

Mrs. Wilhelmina Layton Wescott, 82, of 368 Horseshoe Road, Rockingham, died Monday, September 22, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Wescott was born September 8, 1926 in Steelmantown, NJ, a daughter of the late Jack and Emmaline Chambers Layton. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, the Dorcas Ministry and was a homemaker. Her husband, Marvin Issac Wescott preceded her in death on September 3, 2003. Surviving are her sons, Arnold M. Wescott of South Seaville, NJ, Robert Stephen “ Steve” Wescott and Barry Wescott, both of Rockingham; her daughters, Joyce Knopp of Dallas, TX, Peggy Hess of Greensboro; her sister, Josephine Kern of Mayville, NJ; 13 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Byrd officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home on Horseshoe Rd. Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church, 165 Airport Rd.
