John Craig Webb, 55 of 1514 St. Johns Circle, Rockingham, died Friday, October 3, 2008 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Craig was born June 20, 1953 in Wilmington, NC, a son of William and Carolyn Elvington Webb. Many will remember Craig as an avid golfer, as he was a PGA Class A Professional; he was devoted to the game of golf. He provided golf lessons to many, young and old, in Richmond County as well as Anson County, as he shared his love for the profession. For 14 years he served as Manager/Golf Pro for Twin Valley Country Club in Wadesboro, and currently was employed with Mid Pines Country Club. Craig was also a licensed Realtor in the Moore County Area. His older brother, Thomas Webb, preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Gwen Denney Webb of the home; daughters, Taylor Webb of the home, Carie Carpunky of Winston Salem; and one grandson, Trenton Carpunky of the home. His parents, William and Carolyn Webb of Wilmington; his twin brother, Gregg Webb and wife Becky of Davidson; four nieces and nephews, Tyler and Caroline Webb of Davidson, Lauren McCabe of Winston Salem, and Austin Rogers of Charleston, SC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Rockingham with Rev. Keith Nanney officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6:30 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home on St. Johns Circle. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 410 Washington St., Rockingham, NC 28379.
