Robert Cole Gilliam

Mr. Robert Cole “Bub’ Gilliam, 80, of 217 Ledbetter Rd. Cordova died Monday at his home. Mr. Gilliam was born May 20, 1928 in Richmond County a son of the late George and Claudia Lear Gilliam. He worked at Burlington Industries before going into the auto mechanic field. He served his country in the U.S Army. He attended Cordova Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m at Cordova Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Harris Jordan and Rev. L.D. Driggers officiating. Interment will follow at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Essie Greene Gilliam of the home and one son, Robert Keith Gilliam of Rockingham. He was preceded in death by one daughter Ellen Faye Gilliam and one brother Charles Gilliam. The family will receive friends Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at other time at the home. Memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice 1119 U.S. Hwy #1 N.
