Norma Jean Ickes Chunn

Norma “Jean” Chunn of Rockingham, NC passed away on Oct. 23, 2014 at The Oaks of Mayview in Raleigh, NC. She was 73 years old. Jean was a homemaker and business partner to her husband, Donald Chunn. She attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, was a member of the Red Hat Society, and a member of a local quilting club. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, painting and visiting with her family and friends. She was born in Washington, DC to the late Joseph Eli Ickes and Eulla Marie Thomas. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Donald Chunn; her children, J.R. Knudsen and his wife, Phyllis, of Hampton, VA; Dana Bruce and her husband, Glen, of Brandywine, MD; Vince Chunn and his wife, Randi, of Escalon, CA; Ron Chunn and his wife, Michelle, of Elk Grove, CA; and her sister, Barbara Foley, of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00pm on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 at Carter Funeral Home, 705 S Caroline St, Rockingham, NC 28379. The family will receive friends immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jean’s memory be made to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation (for Childhood Cancer Research), and the Make a Wish Foundation.
