Charles Dawkins

Mr. Charles Dawkins, 65, of 253 Lakeview Trail, Rockingham died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at home. He was born April 19, 1943 in Scotland County, a son of the late Katie Mae Rozier Dawkins and Elijah Claude Dawkins. Mr. Dawkins was of the Baptist faith. He had been a machine operator at Hood Packaging Co. and, also, had previous employment with UCO Fabrics and J. P. Stevens. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, October 17th in the Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel in Rockingham with Rev. Annie Mae Sproles officiating. Interment will follow in Nebo Wesleyan Church Cemetery. Surviving are a sister, Barbara Hodges and husband Buck of the home; a brother, James Howard Dawkins of Old Hickory, TN; and two half sisters, Rita Hurst and Brenda Hopkins. Mr. Dawkins was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Dawkins Peterson. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the home on Lakeview Trail.
