Mrs. Elizabeth ‘Lib’ Wrape Ratliff, of Rockingham died Saturday, October 18, 2008 at her home after a period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Marvin L. and Grace McRae Wrape and was predeceased by her loving husband, Roy Ratliff, her precious granddaughter, Susan Elizabeth Ratliff, and her sister, Margie Wrape. Surviving are her son, John Roy Ratliff and wife Daris of Old Fort, NC; grandson, Lt. Mike Hughes of the United States Navy; granddaughters, Sandra Smith and Shannon Gentry, and four great grandchildren; sisters, Georgia Howell and her husband Bruce, of Asheboro and Mary Charles (Charley) Butler and her husband Joe of Cary; five nieces and nephews, Carol and Geof Fish, Joe and Katie Butler, Jane and Les Floyd, John and Kristi Butler, and Charles and Pam Butler. Before her retirement, Lib was employed as Postmaster at Cordova and later was Financial Secretary at First Baptist Church in Rockingham. She and her husband were active in the Masons and Shriners work and enjoyed volunteering in all their projects. She also taught Sunday School at Cordova Baptist Church and derived great pleasure as she saw young people become more involved in God’s work. Lib was devoted to her family and was always available to help her younger sisters and to help care for her parents as they became disabled. We know that Heaven has a new angel and that a great reunion has been held. We, as a family, will always cherish our memories and love our precious Lib. A service honoring Lib’s life will be conducted 4:00 pm Thursday, October 23, 2008 in the Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Tuttle and the Rev. William Kearse officiating. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the service, beginning at 3:00 pm, at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
