Donna Arlene Pigg Whitehead

Donna Arlene Pigg Whitehead, 70, of Rockingham, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Mrs. Whitehead was born May 30, 1944 in Moore County, a daughter of the late Townly Boyd and Mazil Louise Atkinson Pigg. She was a homemaker and of the Free Will Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Howard Whitehead, son, Danny Paul Cox, and sister, Joyce Alexander. Surviving are her sons, Lee Karl Cox and Rodney Wayne Cox, both of Asheville; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Basil Ray “Buddy” Pigg and Townly James “Tubby” Pigg, both of Aberdeen and sisters, Dovie Ann Kendall of Wadesboro and Jean R. Caddell of Dayton, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Webster officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will see friends from 10:00 to 10:45 am Thursday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
