Blanche Elmore

Blanche G. Elmore, 79 of Rockingham, NC passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. She was born December 30, 1934 in Buncombe County, a daughter of the late Haskell David and Vennie Cogburn Goldsmith. She attended Hamlet School of Nursing and while attending school she met the love of her life, Bernie E. Elmore and married May 6, 1955. She worked for Dr. Hilton Haines for many years, after which she got her lifetime dream of opening a day care, Kiddie Korner Day Care. Surviving are her brother, Emmett Goldsmith; special nieces and nephews, Toni Fletcher, Elaine Gaskins, Tommy Elmore, Brandy Turner, Marc Harding, Ashley Hill, Miranda Coates, Morgan Elmore, Skyler Elmore, Dylan Turner, Krystal Fletcher, Justin Turner, Makayla Russell, Ireland Harding, AnnaLeigh Hill and Triton McAllister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Elmore, brothers, Burt Goldsmith, Troy Goldsmith, Herbert Goldsmith and sisters, Myrtle King, Beatrice Bradburn, and Eva Cagle. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm. Wednesday at Glenwood United Methodist Church in Rockingham, NC, with Rev. Joel Perry, Rev. Jim Stokes and Rev. Bobby Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Glenwood United Methodist Church, 221 County Home Road, Rockingham, NC 28379.
