Maxine Martin Ussery

Maxine Martin Ussery, 86, formerly of Rockingham, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at The Oaks at Mayview in Raleigh, NC. Mrs. Ussery was born January 5, 1928 in Rockingham County, a daughter of the late John Marion and Ellen Ethel Collins Martin. She was a member of McDonald Baptist Church and a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her husband Henry Washington Ussery, sister Estelle Taylor and a daughter in law Peggy Ratliff Ussery. She is survived by a son, Henry Wayne Ussery (Jessie) of Darlington, SC; daughters, Patsy Maxine Craven (Tom) of Wilmington, NC, Sheri Anita Ussery of Cary, NC, Kay Ussery Bradley (Russ) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; brother, Dudley Martin of Elizabethtown, KY; sisters, Juanita McQueen of Eden, NC, Peggy Morrow of Rockingham, NC; grandchildren, Michael Wayne Ussery, Brian Kendall Ussery, Brent Stephen Ussery, Elizabeth Carriker Hinson, Cynthia Elaine Carriker, Robert S. Baker, III, Michelle Raines, Carl Craven, Julia Bradley, Jonathan Bradley and sixteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, December 18, 2014 at McDonald Baptist Church with Rev. Marcia McQueen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home of Elizabeth Hinson, 1071 Crawford Rd, Ellerbe. Memorials may be made to McDonald Baptist Church, Hospice of Wake County or to the Hamlet Lions Club.
