W. R. Tyler

W. R. Tyler, 75, of Rockingham, died Friday, November 14, 2008 at Columbus Regional Health Care in Whiteville, NC. Mr. Tyler was born May 18, 1933 in Brunswick County, a son of the late Gaston and Mary Edwards Tyler. Mr. Tyler moved to Rockingham with Woods 5 & 10 Store in 1968, operated several restaurants until 1992 and sold cars at several places in Rockingham. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockingham since 1968. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Tyler in 1996 and brothers Harold and Leon Tyler. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, November 16, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Rockingham with Dr. Lamar King officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis Cemetery in Bladenboro, NC at 4:30p.m. Surviving Mr. Tyler are son Mark and wife Brenda Tyler of Rockingham, daughter Marie T and husband Randy Merritt of Whiteville, NC, brother Jerry Tyler of Whiteville, NC, grandchildren Evan and Eric Tyler, Chris, Matthew, and Tyler McDonald, Laura Beth, Grant, and Ramona Merritt, Lisa and Jonathan Pope, 2 great grandchildren.
