Christopher Henry Spivey

Christopher Henry Spivey, 46, of 142 E. Church St. Ellerbe, died Sunday, November 16, 2008 at Cape Fear Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. Chris was born January 31, 1962 in Richmond County, a son of Jimmie Spivey and Jerry Kaye Rummage Merrit. He was a graduate of Seventy-First High School in Fayetteville, Class of 1980 and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Class of 1986. He had been employed in hotel management. His grandparents, Annie and Henry Rummage preceded him in death. Surviving are his daughters, Ashley Spivey of New York, NY, Alexa Spivey of Cary, his father, Jimmie Spivey of High Point, his mother, Jerry R. Merritt of Fayetteville, his brother, Greg Spivey of Fayetteville, his sister, Patricia Hood of Stedman, his grandmother, Shirley Comb of High Point, his companion Nancy Knihnicki of Ellerbe, his nephew, Justin Merritt, his niece, Jenna Hood, his cousin, Lew Robertson and his faithful canine best friend, Jessy. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 7 PM Thursday in the Ellerbe Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Carpenter officiating. The family will see friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home on Church St.
