John Howard Watson

John Howard Watson, Sr., 87, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Hospice Haven. He was owner, operator of Watson Body Shop and Auto Sales in Rockingham, NC. He enjoyed the many years of service to the community and was an active member of Roberdel Baptist Church. He was the son of the late James G. and Hattie C. Watson of Hoffman, NC. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Watson Bailey and a granddaughter, Angela Watson Morrison, his brothers, James, Harvey, Glenn, Billy, Jack, Roland and Earl, a sister Margaret Watson Mallard. He is survived by his wife, Rilla Mae (Billie) Maness Watson; daughter, Gloria Watson Edwards and husband, Dean of Apex, NC; son, John Howard Watson, Jr and wife, Retta of Knoxville, TN, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Louise W Chabot, Jean W. Thomas of Fayetteville, NC and Sally W. Russell and husband, Jerry of Charlotte, NC, and survived by many friends, neighbors and loved ones. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Carter Funeral Home, Rockingham, NC on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Roberdel Baptist Church, Rockingham. Visitation at 1:00pm at the church. Funeral will be conducted at 2:00pm following visitation. Burial at Eastside Cemetery Rockingham, NC. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Roberdel Baptist Church.
