Alma Smith Carriker

Alma Smith Carriker, 99, of Ellerbe, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Mrs. Carriker was born September 12, 1915 in Moore County, a daughter of the late B.M. and Dorothea Hight Smith. She was a graduate of Candor High School, a long standing member of First Baptist Church in Ellerbe and for many years was cafeteria manager for Ellerbe School. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Henry Carriker, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Surviving are her sons, Donald Carriker and wife Charlotte, Ralph Carriker and wife Phyllis, all of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Terri Carriker Straton and husband David, Donald Ray Carriker and wife Karen, Jim Carriker and wife Lisa and Jan Carriker; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 pm Sunday at First Baptist Church in Ellerbe with Rev. Dr. Jim Brown officiating.
