Alma Young Mills

Lela Alma Young Mills, 96, of 110 Patterson St. Rockingham, died Friday, December 05, 2008 at Rockingham Manor. Mrs. Mills was born June 1, 1912 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late William Barney and Cora Lillie Jernigan Young. She was a homemaker and member of Pee Dee United Methodist Church.. She was preceded in death by her husband, Zeb Vance Mills, a daughter, Shirley Mills, and sons, Clifton, Leon, and Oscar Mills. Surviving are a son, Richard Mills of Jackson Springs, daughters, Marie Rainwater, Carol Stubbs and Judy Shepard, all of Rockingham, Janet Lowery of Apison, TN, Avis Bowman of Hoffman, 20 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and a brother, June Young of Philadelphia, PA. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in McLean Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home and at other times at the Rainwater home, 181 Airport Rd. Rockingham.
