Louise Phifer

Jane “Louise” Lampley Phifer, 85, of Mt Gilead formerly of Rockingham, died Sunday, December 7, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Phifer was born June 15, 1923 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Lacy and Chillie Milligan Lampley. She worked as a spinner with Aleo Manufacturing Company. She was preceded in death by her husband Haywood “Yo-Yo” Phifer. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev Mac Dennis and Rev Ernest Walters officiating. She will be laid to rest in Eastside Cemetery. Surviving are sons and daughters-in law Dawson and Terri Phifer of Rockingham, Haywood and Carmen Phifer of Houston, TX, daughters Bonnie Melton of Rockingham, Kitty and husband Bill Deaton of Mt Gilead, sister L.E. McDuffie, 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Dawson and Terri Phifer 121 Valley Hill Dr. Rockingham.
