Janie Rae Callahan Bittle

Janie Rae Callahan Bittle, 84, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. Mrs. Bittle was born September 25, 1930 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Roy Lee and Mary Melton Callahan. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Fredrick Bittle and a son, Joey Bittle. Surviving are her children, Steve Bittle (Lesha), Jimmy Bittle, Larry Bittle, Roger Bittle (Katrina), Mickey Bittle, Linda Horne (Mickey) and Deborah Estridge (Steve), all of Rockingham; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great – grandchildren and a brother, Richard Callahan of Rockingham. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Young officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 12:45 to 1:45 pm Saturday at the funeral home and at other times at the Horne residence, 107 Hannah Pickett Church St., Rockingham.
