Kenneth Lee Long, 55, of Rockingham, NC, passed away on March 24, 2015 at Hospice Haven of Richmond County in the warm embrace of his family. Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Lori Tanner Long, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage. He was a loving father to Austin Long and Breanna Long in whom he passionately instilled the love and faith of Jesus Christ. Ken was the son of Gordon and Joyce Elvis of Hamlet, NC and the brother of Timothy Long of Hamlet, NC, Donnie Long, Jr. of Sanford, NC and Kevin Long of Conway, SC. He was preceded in death by his father, Donnie Lee Long. Ken was truly an extraordinary person who left a remarkable legacy of kindness and grace in the world, he was filled with an indomitable spirit and a treasured friend to many. His infectious laugh and smile, that brightened the darkest of moments, will live on in our hearts forever. The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to the staff of Hospice Haven of Richmond County, along with friends and family for all their prayers and support during his illness. A celebration of Ken’s life will be at 2pm Friday, March 27, at the Church of God of Prophecy, 139 Flowers St., Rockingham, NC with Revs. Steve Gilmer, Fred Fisher, and Steve Crews officiating. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the church.
