Frison Etric Sims

Frison Etric Sims, 70, of Rockingham, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 at his home. Mr. Sims was born June 17, 1944 in Lee County, NC, a son of the late Etric Brown and Frankie Vaughn Sims. He had served his country in the US Air Force, was a member of the DAV, and a retired correctional officer with Morrison Correctional Institution. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Scott Sims, sister, Joanne Todd and sister-in-law, Betty Bourroughs. Surviving are his children, Lisa Snipes (Ken), Scott Sims (Michelle), all of Rockingham; grandchildren, Etric Allen Sims, Shirley Emma Sims, both of Rockingham; sister, Diana Sims of Laurens, SC; brothers-in-law, Ben “Nick” Scott of Rockingham, Sam Scott (Kathy) of Kings Mountain; beloved sister-in-law, Mary Scott of Rockingham; niece, Brooke Norton (Jason) of Rockingham; great nephews and niece, Lucas, Jason and Meredith Norton of Rockingham; extended family member, Betty Bell of Rockingham and a host of family and friends. Funeral service will be at 4 pm Thursday at Abundant Life Church with Rev. Joe B. Wilkes, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 2:45 to 3:45 pm Thursday at the church and at other times at 102 Marigold St. Rockingham.
