Lucy Belle Mabe Shankle

Lucy Belle Mabe Shankle, 98, of Ellerbe passed away April 11, 2015 at Hamlet House. She was born August 1, 1916 in Stokes County , NC a daughter of the late George Wilkins and Lucy Brown Wilkins. Belle was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church Ellerbe, NC. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, James H. Mabe and Albert Eli Shankle. She is survived by her children, Glenn William Mabe of Ellerbe, NC, Annie Kate McFayden of Ellerbe, NC, Debbie Robinson of Charlotte, NC, and Eddie Mabe of Easley, SC; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home, Ellerbe, NC, with the Reverend Donnie Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:45 pm - 1:45 pm at the funeral home.
