Edna Paul Vaughn

Edna Paul Vaughn, 84, of Rockingham and Vass, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. She was born January 5, 1931, one of 15 children of William M. and Marie Pearl Walker Benson Paul. While still in her youth, she met her beloved Tom C. Vaughn to whom she was married for 50 years before his death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her oldest son, Tom C. Vaughn, Jr.. She was a dedicated wife and a loving mother. Edna had retired from both J P Stevens Company and J C Penny in Rockingham. Up until the time of her sickness, she faithfully attended and supported Highland Baptist Church in Vass. Surviving are her children, Barbara Lyerly (James) of Rockingham, Rev. Dr. William F. Vaughn (Jeannene) of Vass; daughter-in-law, Linda Vaughn of Hamlet; brother, J.R. Benson of Rockingham; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and special friend, Hoover Mabe of Jackson Springs. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at East Rockingham Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. William F. Vaughn, Rev. Fred Johnson and Rev. Johnny Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the Lyerly home.
