Charles Thomas Speight, 85, of Rockingham went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Mr. Speight was born February 16, 1930 in Richmond County, a son of the late Eli Ashworth and Rosa Terry Speight. He had served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War, was an active member of West Rockingham Church of God where he had held several offices and had retired from the textile industry. He held a deep concern for others and was faithful to his wife, children, church and most importantly to his Savior. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harvey and E.A., Jr. and sister, Louise Covington. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Sylvia Boyte Speight of the home; sons, Charles Thomas Speight, Jr. (Amanda) of Randleman, Ashworth Lee “Ashley” Speight (Denise) of Hamlet; grandchildren, Jared, Nikolas and Charlie; brothers, Brady Speight and Glenn Speight, both of Rockingham and sisters, Ruth Swails and Elizabeth “Sis” Stone, both of Rockingham. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday at the Church of God of Prophecy, Flowers St. Rockingham with Pastors Steve Gilmer, David Shankle and Bobby Haney officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the church and at other times at the home.
