Robert ”Bobby” Roland King, Sr. 83, of Rockingham, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 at Hospice Haven.He was born February 2, 1932 in Richmond county a son of the late M. J. King , Sr. and Ida Mae Barfield King. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force and also in the U. S. Army and later worked in textiles as a fixer. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, M.J. King, Jr., Grady, Doug and James King and sisters, Laurel Brown and Delta Faye Tinner. Surviving are his wife, Jeanette Jackson King; His son, Robbie King ( Susanne) of Hamlet, daughter Sandra B. Graves(Tony) of Maryville, TN, brother, Ronald D. King (Jean) of Hamlet, sister Brenda Kirk(Bill) of Rockingham, and grandson Bobby King of Rockingham. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11:00 am at Richmond Memorial Park. In keeping with Mr. King’s wishes for the service to be a celebration it was his request that those attending dress casual and not to wear black. The family will receive friends following the service and at the home at other times. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Richmond County 1119 N.
