Austin Raymond White

Austin Raymond White, 81, of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015. Mr. White was born May 4, 1934 in Richmond County, a son of the late Raymond Brinklin and Ruby Wilson White. He had served his country in the US Air Force, was a member of Roberdell United Methodist Church and former co-owner of White Poultry Company. He was a lifelong avid aviator and flight instructor. He also enjoyed the outdoors and traveling in his motor home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn White. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Nancy Garris White of the home; children, Lisa W. Johnson (Jamie) of Benson, NC, Donna W. Twiford (James) of Chesapeake, VA, Catherine W. Lantz (Aaron) of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Nicholas and Benjamin Johnson, Jay and Emily Twiford and sister Vivian Wyatt of Flat Rock, NC. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Roberdell United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Carpenter and Eddie Russell officiating. Entombment, with military honors, will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will see friends from 12:45 to 1:45 pm Wednesday at the church and at other times at the home.
