Mrs. Carrie Lee Pankey, 92, formerly of 261 County Home Rd., Rockingham went home to be with her Lord Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. She was born August 8, 1916 in Montgomery County, a daughter of the late Johnny and Nonnie Johnson Parks. Mrs. Pankey was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was retired from the textile industry. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, February 18th at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Delane Burris and Rev. Wayne Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Northam Cemetery Extension. Surviving is a daughter, Nancy Cassidy and husband James of Rockingham; four grandchildren, David Gerald, Jerry Richardson and wife Annette, Mark Richardson and wife Joan, and Candy Braswell; fourteen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter; a sister, Betty Moore of Biscoe; and a son-in-law, Rev. Wilbur Richardson of Rockingham. Mrs. Pankey was preceded in death by her husband, Elies Pankey, a daughter, Audrey Richardson, two grandchildren, Dennis Gerald and Denise Gerald; a great grandchild, Aaron Hurley; brothers, Grover, Ralph, and Carl; and sisters, Ella, Maggie and Nannie.
