Joyce Saunders Speight

Joyce Saunders Speight, 80 of Rockingham, NC passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 15, 1934 in Richmond county a daughter of the late Jesse and Nannie Tilton Saunders. She was the office manager for Sealed Air, a member of Community Church and the Pianist-Organist for the church for 65 years. She was crafty and enjoyed painting and reading. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Saunders. Surviving are her husband, Glenn Speight of the home; daughters Susan Trexler of Rockingham, Joy Parnell(Harvel) of Cheraw, SC, Marsha Stutts(Art) of Rock Hill, SC, a sister Carol Eliason(Donald) of Surfside Beach, SC; grandchildren, Gary Trexler, Jr.(Michelle), Jennifer O’Neal, Jessie Trexler, Kate Parnell, Chris Parnell; and great-grandchildren, Jakob O’Neal, Noah O’Neal, Colton Trexler, Averie Trexler. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday at Community Church with the Rev. Chris Young and Rev. Quinton Covington officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 :00 - 8:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham, NC and at other times at the home.
