Lee Warner Vinroot, 91, Ellerbe, went home to be with her Savior on October 14, 2015. Lee was born January 14, 1924, the daughter of the late David Franklin Warner and Otis Byrd Gardner Warner of Ellerbe. Lee was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Greensboro College and attended UNC Chapel Hill. She had worked with the Charlotte News, was one of the original staff members of Radio Station WAYN, Rockingham, also worked with Radio Station WIST in Charlotte. After her marriage to Fred Vinroot in 1953, she stayed at home as wife and mother. In 1966, the couple moved to New Jersey where she joined Medical Economics Co. publishers of health-care books and periodicals, as a writer and editor. She retired in 1983. In 1987, she moved to her family home in Ellerbe where she served on the boards of the Rankin Museum and the Sandhill Libraries, and in several reading and writing programs. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockingham, where she taught Sunday school and served on a variety of committees. She most recently attended the Fellowship Baptist Church of Ellerbe with her son, Jon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred William Vinroot and brothers, David Floyd (Bill) Warner and Francis Gardner (Jack) Warner. She is survived by their daughter Susan Vinroot Seeger (Ron) of Duluth, GA; sons Paul David Vinroot (Nancy) of Salisbury, MD, Jon Fredric Vinroot of Candor, NC; grandchildren: Adam Funari, Sara Vinroot Bunting (Mark); Peter Daniel Vinroot (Kathleen), Andrew James Vinroot and John Mark Vinroot; great-grandchildren, McKenna, Blake, Weston, and Eli Bunting and Lee Vinroot and numerous nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Lee’s life will be at 4 pm Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Monroe officiating. The family will see friends from 2:45 to 3:45 pm Saturday at the church and at other times at the home.
