Claude William Simmons

Claude Simmons Claude William Simmons, 79, of Rockingham went to be with his Lord and Savior and his parents and daughter on Friday, November 13, 2015. Claude is survived by his wife, Faye Simmons of the home; two sons, Bill and Pennie Simmons, of Randolph, NY, Howard and Marlen Simmons of Chesterfield, SC; three daughters, Dawn and Casey McCarter of Springtown TX, Sherry Simmons(Kenny Norris) of Wadesboro, NC and Tammy and Gus Thrift of Rockingham, NC; a brother Herb and Esther Simmons of Gowanda, NY, two sisters, Ginny and Marvin Breon of Corning, NY and Penny and Dick Bridges of Gowanda, NY, and a host of nieces and nephews, and good friends Bill and Myrna Waite. Claude is also survived by 14 grandchildren; Angie Sluga, Margaret Robbins, Billy Storey, Mellisa Eastman, Erica Jones, Shawn Watson, Kaylin Simmons, Jasmine Martin, Amy Simmons, Ray Martin, Devon Martin, Emily Simmons, Trinity Reeves and Howie Simmons, and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home, in Rockingham, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:45 – 2:45 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home. The family wants to especially thank our dad’s brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and one special niece Judy Hursey for helping our mother out. We also want to thank Hospice of Richmond County, Reverend Cook, Chaplain Chris, Mike Rankin, and Carters Funeral Home for everything. Thank you for the granddaughter Amy Simmons for coming to help every weekend she could.
