Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Jordan Stokes, 83, of 409 Stokes Road, Rockingham went home to be with her Lord and Savior March 13, 2009 at her home. She was born April 10, 1925 in Richmond County daughter of the late William A and Ollie Pearl Landon Jordan. She was preceded in death by a son Mitchell Thurman Stokes, a brother A.C. Jordan and sisters Pauline McLean, Viola Dutton, and Hazel Lampley. She was a weaver at Safie Mill and Beaunit Mill and later became a homemaker. She was a member of Living Waters Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Benoist officiating. Interment will follow at Northam Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Oscar T. Stokes, son Mark Stokes and wife Karla of Rockingham and daughter Judy Stokes of the home and Donnie, brother Bobby Jordan of Hamlet. The family will receive friends Saturday at Carter Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm and at other times at the home of her son at 343 Stokes Road, Rockingham.
