Irene Thomas Watkins

Mrs. Irene Thomas Watkins, age 79 passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. Mrs. Watkins was born July 28, 1929 in St. Michael, Pa. to the late Hovey E. and Dessie Smeed Thomas. She was a Homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church as well as a member of the Red Hat Society. She was preceded in death by a daughter Jaci Watkins Duppstadt and sisters Eulla Ickes, Owenna Craig, Leona Locher Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Trevor Foster and Rev. Mike Skinner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. She is survived by her husband Alex Watkins of the home, one son Paul Watkins of Rockingham, two daughters Brenda Yates of Hamlet and Judi Dennis of Rockingham, one sister Rhuea Yoder, 6 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday, March 30 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the home at 1064 Sandhill Road.
