Effie Mauldin Goins

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Effie Jones Mauldin Goins, 79 of Rockingham, at home on Sunday, April 12, 2009, with her family by her side. Energized by the love of all her family and friends she fearlessly fought to the end. Remembering Mama and the joy she brought to all of us will allow her spirit to live on forever. Mrs. Goins was born April 21, 1929 in Marlboro County, SC a daughter of Manley and Mattie Leviner Jones. She was a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Her brothers and sisters, Ebb, Woodrow and Keller Jones, Louise Coble, Ollie Jones and Cleon Coward as well as a grandson, Calvin Mauldin preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Roy Mauldin, Jr and wife Teresa, Roger Mauldin, Ronnie Mauldin and wife Martha, James Mauldin and wife Faye, all of Rockingham, Larry Mauldin and wife Sonya of Bloomingdale, GA, Sarah Forester and husband Henry of Monroe, Susan Williams and husband David of Shallotte, NC, Vickie Rankin and husband Hugh, Pattie Long and husband, M.C. , all of Rockingham, Brenda Jordan and husband Johnny of Hamlet, Kimberly Mauldin and special friend, Kim Ann of Myrtle Beach, SC, Dianne Stack and husband Dennis of Mankato, MN, 35 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Zeb Jones, Marshall Jones, Flora Steele and Mattie Wheaton, all of Rockingham and a special nephew, Billy Jones of Awendaw, SC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Cobb Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Jacobs and Rev. Chuck McKnight officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wallace, SC. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the Jordan Home on Mill Road. Memorials may be made to Liberty Hospice, 921 E.
