Lewis Howell Lyde, Jr.

Lewis Howell Lyde, Jr., 59, of Hamlet, passed away Monday, February 8 , 2016 at home. Mr. Lyde was born July 5, 1956 in Mecklenburg County, a son of the late Lewis Howell and Johnnie Mae Dunn Lyde. He attended the Church of God of Prophecy and had worked as a Hamlet Police Officer and with Cameron Morrison Correctional Institution. Surviving are his sisters, Shelia Perhealth of Hamlet and Bridget Greene (William) of Ellerbe; brother, Kyle Lyde (Lillie) of Rockingham, several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, David Perhealth of Rockingham and his best friend and former police partner, Dozier Thomas (Dephine). Funeral services will be at 2 pm Thursday at the Church of God of Prophecy in Rockingham with Pastor Steve Gilmer officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
