Bernie Jordan

Bernie Jordan 83, of Rockingham passed away Saturday April 9, 2016 at Hospice Haven. Bernie was born May 7, 1932 in Richmond County a son of the late Emmett S. Jordan and Mollie Watkins Jordan. Bernie was a member of Cordova Baptist church and served his nation in the U S Marine Corps. Bernie was an insurance agent with Liberty Life and retired with 32 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law Walter Norris, a son Tony Gibson and a grandson Anthony Gibson. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Williams Jordan, daughters Angela Norris of Cornelius, NC, Emily Graham(Kenny) of Fayetteville, NC, Gail O’Neal Carpenter of Wilson, NC; son, Chris Gibson(Sherri) of Ellerbe, NC; grandchildren, Megan Pearson, Dusty Ammons, Brian O’Neal, Ryan Gibson, Brandon Gibson, Brooke Gibson, Jennifer Gibson; 11 Great-Grandchildren; sister, Wilma Spencer(Chuck) of Ellerbe, NC, Bernice Owens of Hamlet, NC, Alliene Morrison of Rockingham, NC and brother, Emmett Jordan, Jr. of Campobello, SC. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at Cordova Baptist Church with the Pastor Doug Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. Memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N US Hwy 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
