Juanita Davis West

Juanita Davis West, 87, of Dunn, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at her home. Mrs. West was born October 21, 1928 in Marion, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Robert Benjamin and Edith Mae Goude Davis. She had been a member of First Baptist church in Dunn since January, 1970 and had been active as a deacon, a member of the Sanctuary and Senior Choirs, JOY Group, and held many church offices. Juanita was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary, where she had served as president, had volunteered with the Betsy Johnson Hospital Auxillary and the Averasboro Battlefield Museum. She had works in the cosmetics department at Eckerd Drugs and became affectionately known as “Miss Juanita”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles O. West, whom she married in 1956, brothers, Jeff, Marvin, Francis and Alton Davis and her sister, Barbara Yarborough. Surviving are her sons, Charles Otis West, Jr. and John R. West; grandchildren, Ashley Marie West Dobrie (Jay) and John Robert West, II; great grandson, Jason Dobrie; sister in law, Juanita B. Davis and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be at 11 am Friday at First Baptist Church of Dunn with Rev. Dr. Len Keever and Rev. Dr. Bruce Davis Taylor officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 pm Friday at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw. The family will see friends from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at First Baptist Church of Dunn and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Dunn, 309 W. Broad St., Dunn, NC 28334.
