Donald Carson Morgan, 79, of 104 McDonald Lane, Hamlet, died Monday, May 25, 2009 at Regency Hospital in Florence, South Carolina. Mr. Morgan was born January 13, 1930 in Richmond County, a son of the late Daniel Morgan and Nora Brown Morgan Haire. Mr. Morgan served his country for 9 ½ years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, served 11 ½ years with the Rockingham Police Department and retired from CSX Railroad after 22 years of service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rockingham where he had served as Teacher of the Walker Bible Class for 28 years and was a member of the Golden Agers. He was a member of Rockingham Masonic Lodge # 495 A.F. & A.M.. His son, Donald Carson Morgan, Jr, a brother, Jack Morgan and a sister Delores Morgan, all preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Rae Garris Clayton Morgan of the home; son, Glenn Morgan of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Tina Morgan of San Francisco, CA; stepson, Johnny Clayton of Hamlet; stepdaughter, Tina Clayton Sellers of Whiteville; 2 grandchildren; 3 stepgrandchildren; and a sister Carolyn Dunn of Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dwight Williams and Rev. Dr. Scott Poole officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home on McDonald Lane.
