Mauyer Edward Hancock Mauyer Edward Hancock, 86, of Ellerbe passed away May 31, 2016 at First Health Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was born December 29, 1929 in Bassett, VA a son of the late Joe Milton and Stella Poplin Hancock. Mr. Hancock was retired from the NC Department of Transportation with 45 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and a member of the Ellerbe Charge Methodist Men’s Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Margaret Parsons and Lucille Redmond and infant brother Harry Hancock. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Priddy Hancock of the home; daughters Connie H. Williams(Wayne), Bonnie H. Yarbrough(Ronnie), Sharon H. Dees(Donald); grandchildren, Todd Williams(Cayce), Candace Heath(Dustin), Amanda Hill(Chad), Brandon Yarbrough(Stacey), Toni Portu(Danny), Taylor Dees(Stephanie), Hannah Rivard(Jared), Blake Dees; great-grandchildren, Camden and Conner Williams, Laney Heath, Collin Hill, Bailey and Brayden Yarbrough, Sawyer and Jackson Portu, and Kyleigh Dees; brother, James Hancock(Jewell); sisters, Sue Dray, Ella Mae Snipes(Wilbur), and Joann Mercer(Tommy) A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Ellerbe, NC. with the Reverend Elizabeth Polk and Reverend Donald Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 - 1:45 at the church and other times at the home.
