Judy Carol Reel Marks, 74, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Mrs. Marks was born January 16, 1942 in Columbus County, NC, a daughter of the late James Hunter and Alma Hinson Reel. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Rockingham, where she had taught Sunday School for many years. She had taught for over 35 years, 28 years with the Richmond County School System. She had also served on the board of the Sandhills Regional Library System. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Regan Carol Marks and a brother, L.V. Reel. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Ellis Lazelle Marks, Jr. of the home; sons, Greg Marks ( Laurie) and Jon Marks (Caroline), all of Rockingham; grandchildren, Jack Marks, Evan Watkins, Ryan Watkins and Meredith Marks and sisters, Annie Mae Hammond and Fannie Lou Cribb (Harold), all of Fair Bluff. Funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday at First Baptist Church with Rev Dr. Jim Nelson and Rev. Patricia Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 N.
