Mrs. Billie Ruth McKay Coco, 80, of Gloversville, NY, formerly of Rockingham, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, NY. Mrs. Coco was born January 19, 1929 in Richmond County, NC, the daughter of the late Archibald McKay and Thelma Barbour McKay Crumbley. Billie married USN 1st Class Petty Officer Louis J. Coco of Johnstown, NY in 1944 and the couple moved to Gloversville, NY in 1947, where they raised their three children and resided for 62 years. A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Coco loved to read, listen to the radio, and garden her flowers. She was a talented seamstress, president of the PTA for many years, was employed by Britt's Department Store of New York, and was an Avon representative for 25 years. She was a compassionate person and loving mother. She loved cats, was an active supporter of numerous charitable organizations and animal protection societies, and was a member of Mt. Carmel Church. Surviving are her husband, Louis John Coco of the home: daughter, Louise Joan Blanchard and husband Douglas, of Coupeville, WA; sons, Dr. Louis John Coco, Jr., PhD., Colonel, USAF Retired and wife Sharon, of Nashua, NH, Dr. William J. Coco, DDS and wife Brooke of Greenville, NC; grandchildren, Daniel Blanchard and wife Melody of Greenville, NC, Amenda and Jay Seelow of Coupeville, WA, Carrie and Michael McLaughlin of Brookline, NH, Louis J. Coco III of Merrimack, NH, Matthew Coco and Ryan Coco, both of Greenville, NC: great-grandchildren, Abbygail Seelow of Coupeville, WA, Michael McLaughlin, Megan McLaughlin and Matthew McLaughlin all of Brookline, NH. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 13, 2009, in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Rockingham, NC. Interment will follow in the Eastside Cemetery in Rockingham, NC.
