Myrtie Ruth Flowers Martin

Myrtie Ruth Flowers Martin, 90, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Mrs. Martin was born January 29, 1926 in Andrews, SC, a daughter of the late Rev. A.J. and Fannie Viola Bragdon Flowers. She had been a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Rockingham. For many years she was a saleswoman with Lupegs Shoes and later worked with Sandhurst Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Albert Martin and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are her daughter, Pamela Martin Turnage of Rockingham; grandchildren, Kerry Turnage of North Myrtle Beach, Christie Gainey(Chuck) of Rockingham; great grandchildren, Caden and Carson Gainey , Peyton and Aubrie Turnage; brother, Rev. Berttie Judson Flowers of Laurinburg and sisters, Dora Lee Flowers Bowman of Rockingham and Anna Rebecca Flowers Walker of Camden, SC. Funeral services will be at 11 am Wednesday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Berttie J. Flowers officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 US Hwy 1 North, Rockingham, NC 28379.
