James "Jim" Mitchell Vuncannon

James Mitchell Vuncannon, 58, of Ellerbe, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016. Jim was born, December 14, 1957, in Rockingham, a son of the late Cecil Bradley and Susan Gentry Vuncannon. He earned a degree in graphic arts from Chowan College in 1978. Most currently he was employed with Whistle Stop Press in Southern Pines as the production manager. For over 30 years he was a member of Ellerbe Fire Department, 10 of those years serving as chief. He also earned his pilots license and loved to fly. He was a very loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all. Surviving are his children, Jason Mitchell Vuncannon of Ellerbe, Jessie Vuncannon Langford (Russ) of Fayetteville; granddaughter Logan Gentry Langford of Fayettville; brother C.B. “Pete” Vuncannon, Jr. of Jackson Springs, sister Donna Muldrow of Ellerbe and niece Susan Muldrow Paul and Family of Mooresville. There will be a casual memorial gathering in Jim’s Honor on Saturday, September 3rd, 2016 from 1pm - 3pm at Ellerbe Fire Department.
