Katie Thomason Bennett

Katherine Idea Thomason Bennett, 80, of Ellerbe, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Hospice Haven. Katie was born December 20, 1935 in Covington, Alabama. A daughter of the late Franke William Thomason and Willie Mae Knott. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by husbands Tom Reynolds in March 1986 and Moses Bennett in April 2016. Mrs. Katie loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. She could be found baking homemade biscuits any day of the week in her kitchen. Spending time outdoors tending to her petunias, walking in the yard, and playing cards were some of her favorite hobbies. Mrs. Katie never had any children of her own, but she has raised and loved many children as if they were her own. Surviving are a brother Clint Thomason, sisters Ruth Millner, Millie Miller, Fran Thomas, and Grace Stutts; nephew, Tony Seagraves (Melissa), niece, Sandra Thompson, great nieces and nephews, Camron Seagraves, Katie Rae Seagraves, Justin Smith, Miranda Thompson and other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 3pm, at the Carter Funeral Home Ellerbe Chapel with Chaplain Ken Lyerly officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:45 to 2:45 pm prior to the service and other times at the home of Tony and Melissa Seagraves. Interment will follow at Ellerbe Cemetery.
