John Harris Rummage

John Harris Rummage, 83, of Ellerbe passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at his home. Mr. Rummage was born July 29, 1933 in Richmond County, a son of the late Willie Harris “Bud” and Pearlie Mae Moore Rummage. He was a member of Jones Springs United Methodist Church and a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1952. For over 61 years he was a member of Ellerbe Lions Club, having served in all offices and for over 35 years was a member of Ellerbe Rescue Squad. He was a farmer and owner/operator of Fairview Alignment in Ellerbe. He was also a member of the 1973 Benny Parsons Championship Race Team. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Bruce Rummage and Bobbi Jo Allred, granddaughter, April Stone and sisters, Irene Hancock and Phyllis McDonald. Surviving are his granddaughter, Amber Stone (Brandon Lee) of Ellerbe and great grandchildren, Joshua Stone, Skylar Lee and Katlyn Owens. Funeral services will be at 2pm Friday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe with Rev. Bob Carpenter and Rev. Ricky Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Ellerbe Rescue Squad, P.O.Box 148, Ellerbe, NC 28338.
