George Melvin Boger, 98, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday September 17, 2016 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham. Mr. Boger was born December 9, 1917 in Cabarrus County, NC. He had proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during World War II. He had retired from Seaboard Railroad and loved to fish and help others. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vallie Watts Boger. Surviving are his wife, Faye Swails Webb Boger of Rockingham; son, Wade Boger (Becky) of Asheboro;daughter, Kitty Winchester of Rockingham; grandchildren, Michael Padak of Dallas, TX, Lynn Green(Tom) of Kernersville, Rodney Boger (Betsy) of Fuquay Varina, Brooke McMillan (Mike) of Wake Forest; great grandchildren, Abigail and Noah Green, Stephanie and Hannah Boger, Caitlin, Kyndall and Grant McMillan. Also surviving are step children, Brenda Hendrix (Pete) of Rockingham, Dianne Jones (JB) of Rockingham; stepgrandchildren, Brad Taylor (Heather), Cam Taylor (Jenny), Tara Taylor, Jay Jones (Kristin), all of Rockingham, and Byron Jones(Kathryn) of Indian Trail and step great grandchildren, Ally, Chloe, Hunter, Riley and Sawyer Taylor and Braden, Aubree and Kaylee Jones. Funeral services will be at 3 pm Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Pastor Marvin Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
