Matthew Ramson Luther,Jr

Matthew Ramson Luther, Jr., 76, of Ellerbe, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Mr. Luther was born May 27, 1940 in Anson County, a son of the late Matthew Ramson “Mack” and Lela Eury Luther. He retired from Collins & Aikman in 2003. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and enjoyed his retirement years spending his early mornings at Farm Supply with Jerry Carriker and friends and spending time with his lifelong neighbors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Janet Liles Luther, great grandchild, Jordyn Lynn Brooks, 3 sisters and 1 brother. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Josephine Hoover Cox Luther of the home; his children, Belinda King of Ellerbe, Lisa Smith (Dennis) of Wallace, SC, Denise Covington (David) of Rockingham, Dean Luther (Tammy) of Yazoo City, Mississippi, Mitchell Cox (Judy) of Ellerbe and Tony Cox (Lisa) of Ellerbe. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 2 sisters, Brenda Luther and Jean Luther, both of Norwood, a brother, Tom Luther (Pat) of Albemarle and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 am Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe with Rev. Wayne Richardson and Rev. Dean Luther officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home.
