Elizabeth Claire McInnis

Miss Elizabeth Claire McInnis, 96, passed away on Thursday September 22 at her home near Norman, NC. She was born April 20, 1920 at her family homeplace near Norman and lived there, and later in her own home nearby, all of her life. She was the youngest and last surviving of the twelve children of John Alexander and Mary Helen Bolton McInnis. She graduated from Ellerbe High School, Class of 1936. A lifelong member of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian, she was the pianist and taught Sunday School for many years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Eloise McInnis Maness (Thomas), Willie McInnis (Jessie, Bertha), Glenn McInnis, Monnie McInnis Thompson (George), Rob McInnis, (Sallie Mae), Lee McInnis (Martha), Jennie Mae McInnis Sedberry (Alonzo), Woodrow McInnis (Mary), Clarence McInnis, Pratt McInnis (Marjorie), and Lawrence McInnis. She is survived by her sister-in-law Nancy McInnis, and her nieces and nephews: Tom Maness (Diane), Louise Jordan (Arnold), Betty Jean Jenkins, Charles McInnis (Margaret), Cathy Greene, Claire Robinson (Otho), Sarah Abrams, Carey Thompson (Sylvia), Helen Simmons (Fred), Lillian Covington (Clegg), James McInnis, Deana Vickers (Jon), Wayne McInnis (Nedra), John McInnis (Velma), Tom McInnis (Janice), Carolyn Lovin (Mac), Danny McInnis (Glenda), Beth McInnis, Susan Streater, Michael McInnis, Richard McInnis (Meredith), as well as all of their extended families. The family would like to offer special thanks to her dedicated caregivers: Mary, Darlene, Vickie, and Teresa, as well as to Richmond County Hospice. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday September 24 at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Wayne Luck and Rev. Donald Covington officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 6-8 pm on Friday evening at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe. Memorials may be made to the Mt.
