Lucille Reynolds Rhyne

Mrs. Betty Lucille Reynolds Rhyne, 80, of 267 E. Church St. Ellerbe, died Friday, July 3, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Rhyne was born August 29, 1928 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Carson Esther and Grace Gibson Reynolds. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ellerbe and had retired from Gilead Manufacturing Co. in Mt. Gilead. For many years she kept children in her home and affected the lives of many young people in the Ellerbe area through this. Her husband, Ramer Rhyne, who she married on March 13, 1954,preceded her in death on July 30, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Henry and Harvey Reynolds, sisters, Mary Grace “Mae” Hawks, and Helen Reynolds, and son-in-law, Roger Mabe. Surviving are daughters, Carolyn Mabe of Ellerbe, Sara Puckett and husband William of Ellerbe; a son, Rev. Don Rhyne and wife Virginia of Chesterfield, SC,; grandchildren, Tracy Lyerly and husband Chris of Norman, Phillip Sellers and wife Emily of Ellerbe, Richard Mabe and wife Heather of Hamlet, Carson Rhyne and Christine Rhyne, both of Chesterfield, SC.; and great grandchildren, Hailie, Jenna and Ashton Lyerly. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday at First Baptist Church of Ellerbe with Rev. Dr. James Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe and at other times at the home on Church St. Memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 US Hwy 1 N., Rockingham, NC 28379 or to First Baptist Church of Ellerbe, P.O.Box 8, Ellerbe, NC 28338.
