Mr. Jack D. Hines, Sr., 81, of 123 Stillwell St., Rockingham passed from this earth to his eternal home on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at his home in Rockingham. Mr. Hines was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Richmond County. a son of the late Myrtle Haltom Allen and John Robert Hines. He was affiliated with Shining Light Free Will Baptist Church and had been retired from the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Maggie) Hines in 2004 and by a son, John Robert Hines, in Feb. 2002. Surviving are his daughter, Dianne Haugen and husband Richard of Hamlet; two sons, Jack D Hines, Jr of Rockingham and Paco John Hines of the home. Grandchildren, Jillian Haugen Williamson and husband James, Gabrielle & Destiny Reeves, Jennifer Ethridge and husband Josh, and Kimberly Kelly, all of Rockingham.; and great-granddaughters, Eden Rose Williamson of Hamlet, Brooklyn Kelly, Jessalyn and Sydney Etheridge of Rockingham. Also surviving are brothers; John Robert Hines of Fayetteville, James T Hines of Bennettsville, Harold R Hines and Joe Hines, both of Rockingham. Also surviving is his brother-in-law William (Bill) Griffin of Rockingham. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, at Richmond County Memorial Park with the Rev. Howard “Buddy” Smith officiating. The family will see friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home on Stillwell Street.
