Patsy Maxine Ussery Craven, 63, of Wilmington, NC passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice, surrounded by her family. Patsy was born February 19, 1953 in Richmond County a daughter of the late Henry W. and Maxine M. Ussery. She was a member of Delco First Baptist Church, where she loved her church family. Patsy grew up at McDonald Baptist Church, where to this day she loved the church family. An avid gardener, she loved the outdoors and watching things grow. She loved to can vegetables and make jellies. She enjoyed her family and their many adventures together. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Peggy R. Ussery. Surviving are her husband, Thomas H. Craven; her daughters, Elizabeth Carriker Hinson(Freddie), Elaine Carriker Oxendine(Patrick) Michelle Craven Raines(Ricky) and son, Carl Wayne Craven II, her grandchildren, Hunter Reagan, Lucas Raines, Mileana Raines, Skylar Craven, Savannah Hinson, Abigail Hinson, Ander Oxendine, Bristol Oxendine, and Micah Oxendine. She is also survived by her brother, H. Wayne Ussery(Jessie); sisters, Sheri Ussery, Kay U. Bradley(Russ); her nephews, Michael W. Ussery, Brian K. Ussery, Brent S. Ussery, Robert S. Baker III. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday at McDonald Baptist Church with the Rev. Marsha McQueen and Rev. Larry Frye officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. The family would like to express their appreciation to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and New Hanover Regional Medical Center for all their care and loving attention they showed Patsy. The family requests that memorials be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
