Leola Adams Hinson, 97, of 910 N. Lee Street, Extension, Rockingham, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at her home. Leola was born June 29, 1912 in Anson County, a daughter of the late Tom and Aggie Sellers Adams. For many years, Leola drove a bread truck for Rockingham Bakery, and then ran a dry cleaning route for Richmond Cleaners and later Bob’s Cleaners. After their first retirement, she and her husband Guerney ran Hinson’s Grocery for many years. Leola joined Roberdel Baptist Church in 1942 and served her Lord faithfully for many years. She taught Sunday school, Sunbeams, served on the Lord’s Supper committee, the Food committee and the Task Force of Prayer at her church. Her husband, Guerney L. Hinson, one grandchild, Lou Ann Smith Singleton, sister, Alma Douthit and brother, Norman (Bo) Adams preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters, Margaret T. Smith of Rockingham, Peggy Gibson of Hartsville, SC, Jennipher H. Love and husband, Waldo of Rockingham; grandchildren Brenda S. Marlowe and Husband, Douglas of Franklin, Va., Randy Smith and wife, Hattie of Raleigh, NC, Barbie Tanner Hawkins and Husband, Roger of Surf City, NC; great-grand children, Elizabeth Marlowe of Richmond, Va. Jason Singleton, Ricki Singleton, of Rockingham, Ashley Smith and Erin Smith of Raleigh, and Chance Hawkins of Surf City, NC; great great grandchildren, Stevie Steen of Rockingham and Bryce Singleton of Rockingham. Also surviving is one sister, Virginia Davidson of Rockingham, two nieces and three nephews. A service to celebrate Leola’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Roberdel Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Smith, Rev. Jerry Turner, and Dr. Jerry McGee officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will see friends from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Saturday at the church and at other times at the home on N. Lee St. Extension.
