Mary Magadeline Currie Thompson, 76, of Ellerbe, passed away Friday, October 28, 2016 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. Mrs. Thompson was born October 18, 1940 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Bernie and Merle Martin Currie. She was a member of Saron Baptist Church and had retired from Open Arms Rest Home in Raeford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Leon Thompson. Surviving are her children, Alice Taylor ( Robbie ) of Red Springs, Douglas “Buck” Thompson ( Felicia ) of Richburg, SC, Gale Rotundo ( Arthur ) Aberdeen, Becky Smith of Lexington, Dennis Thompson ( Joy ) of Welcome, Debbie Thompson-Whitis ( Tim ) of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Cassie Taylor, Tyler Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Douglas Thompson, Matthew Keaton, Amanda Kleean, Josh Smith, Ashley Pope, Phillip Whitis, Jennifer Berrier, Jonathan Thompson; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Charles Currie of Emporia, VA, and Marie Fulp of Ellerbe. Funeral services will be at 3 pm Saturday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe with Bro. Wayne Luck and Rev. Brad Boberg officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 1:45 to 2:45 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
